Eco Apiary. Com is a small, environmentally friendly, safe and sustainable beekeeping operation using ecologically safe modern beekeeping technologies to raise bees and produce natural raw honey and apiary-related products. Our bees are raised in the same way they used to be in the wilderness. The following statements describe our method of raising bees and harvesting honey and apiary products:
Bee swarming is a natural process for bees. When bees swarm, it means that they live a healthy life. When the beehive is getting almost full of honey, and there is no more place for their development and honey production, the bees will develop several queen cells to raise a new queen. The existing queen takes approximately 30-50% of the bees and leaves the hive permanently.
There are times when beehives become uninhabitable or destroyed, and bees have to leave their beehives. When this is the case, the bees also look like they swarmed. As a result of swarming, there will be two be bee colonies.
Bee swarms rarely happen on a moment's or short notice unless they have to leave abruptly. Normally, before bees swarm, they have their bee scouts to find a suitable place to live. It could be another empty beehive, inside a tree, house, attic space or other structure's wall. If bees cannot find a new place to live, they usually find the safest temporary place like the top of tree branches and stay on until they find a place to live. This is when the bees are most vulnerable and are least likely to sting as long as no one bothers them.
Bees usually swarm in the summertime between the end of May and the middle of August. Most of the time, bees swarm during hot days from noon to late afternoon.
When bees do not have a hive to swarm in, they look in residential structures such as walls, attic spaces, flooring, etc. The picture above shows one of the swarm examples.
The above picture, along with three others on the top, shows how bees swarm on trees. If you see bee swarms like those in the photos shown above or below or bees moved into the walls of your home, please give us a call at (587) 332 - 3308 or e-mail us at ecoapiary@gmail.com. In most cases, we will remove bee swarms or bee nests free of charge. We use environmentally friendly methods to remove bees without damaging property or causing damage to the bee colony itself.
If you do not know anything about bees but would like to keep those bees that settled or swarmed on your property, we can build you a custom-made maintenance-free beehive for your beekeeping hobby. Otherwise, we will remove a bee swarm from your property. Please get in touch with us for more information.
